ABOUT ANCIENT DEBRIS

Ancient debris is the second rarest ore in the game that was added in 1.16 for Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. It is found exclusively in The Nether between Y level 8 to 22. Apparently, Ancient debris is the only legitimate source of the Netherite Scrap. Ancient debris floats on lava in item form. It cannot be burned by any form of fire as well it has the same blast resistance as obsidian but is movable by pistons. Ancient debris is really an extremely rare ore found in the Nether, and is the main source of netherite scraps. Its high blast resistance makes Ancient debris immune to the normal explosions.

HOW TO FIND ANCIENT DEBRIS IN MINECRAFT

You have to know that Ancient Debris is the first thing that you need to find on the journey to the Netherite. Of course, you are able to find it in the Nether. Once you go through your Nether portal, you will need to dig down in order to find it. This is because the chance of finding more Ancient Debris is higher depending on how lots of blocks above the bottom of the world you are.

Unfortunately, because your Nether portal is able to be generated at any random level in the Nether, it is impossible to say how far you need to dig down. You have to know your starting position and the way you do that is by pressing F3. This is going to show you a lot of debug information, however on the left-hand side of the screen will be three coordinates: X, Y, and Z. While all three are crucial to remember for your Nether portal location, you require to pay attention to the Y-axis to increase your chance of finding Ancient Debris.

The Y-axis tells you how lots of blocks you are above the bottom layer of the entire world. Ancient Debris is able to spawn in veins of 1-3 blocks at Y-axis 8-22. Also, it is able to spawn in veins of 1-2 blocks at Y-axis 8-119. It means that the maximum number of Ancient Debris blocks you are able to find in one chunk (64×64 block section of the world) is five. Aside from that, Ancient Debris can also only spawn completely covered by other blocks or lava. It means that you are going to need to start a Nether mineshaft. You will not run into any while sauntering across the Nether surface.

BREAKING

Ancient debris falls as an item when mined with a diamond or netherite pickaxe. If mined with other tools, it falls off.

USAGE (SMELTING INGREDIENT)

Ancient Debris is able to be smelted by using a furnace or blast furnace. If you take out the netherite scrap, you are rewarded with 2 experience orbs.
