In this guide, we are going to talk about Valorant’s HUD (Heads Up Display), what to remember at the start of each round, and some basic game mechanics.
Mini-Map
On the upper left side of your screen, you are going to see a minimap. This shows you and your teammates’ locations. At the bottom of the minimap is the exact location of your agent or the agent you are spectating. Enemy agents and their abilities are going to pop up on the minimap, so you have to ensure to check it constantly. In the settings menu you are able to configure the minimap to a fixed orientation or you are able to set it to auto-rotate with your character. Beginner’s Tip: If you are eliminated by an enemy, you have to ensure to tell your team where you were killed. This is going to help them plan their next move and prevent them from being flanked.
Top Center
At the top center of your Valorant HUD are the team score, match timer, and team agent identifier. Each Valorant round is going to have a 30-second buy phase and a 1 minute 40 second round timer. At the start of a normal Valorant match, the teams are assigned as the attackers and the defenders. After the 12th round, both teams switch sides. The last, the agents bar shows which agents are still alive in the round. Beginner’s tip: On round 12, you have to ensure that you use up all of your credits because they will not carry over to the next round.
Buy Menu
At the start of each round, you are given 800 credits. If you are low on credits, you are able to ask someone to help you buy a weapon by right clicking it. You have to remember to buy your teammates’ weapons when you have a good amount of credits. Please keep in mind that there is a 9,000 credit cap. So, even if your teammate has enough credits to buy their own weapons, you need to tell them you are going to buy it for them for efficient economy usage. Beginner’s tip: Please always stock up on armor. In Valorant, armor points deplete quickly, and they are the first to go before you lose health points.
